MyBuys Messenger - Winter 2008
Cell’s Corner: Holidays Success and 2009 Plans
Let me start off by wishing everyone a Happy and Prosperous Holiday Season. Our theme for this Winter 2008 Newsletter is client success, highlighted by stories about the great results from some of our new clients, including Essential Apparel, Figi’s, and Scentiments.com. I want to introduce this theme by thanking you, our clients, for being our partners, trusting us, and helping us learn. We continue to apply these lessons every day to increase our algorithm leadership and improve our results for you. We are continuously adding and optimizing our algorithms and tuning our consumer weights and filters behind the scenes to constantly improve results for each of your consumer recommendations.
Our investments in infrastructure and algorithms are paying off. On December 1, Cyber Monday, many of our clients experienced multiples of their average traffic—incoming traffic was up 300% across our client base from the previous month—and we were ready with response times less than a third of our times from last quarter, thanks to major upgrades to our datacenter made in October. In fact, Cyber Monday was a record day in many regards, including revenue driven for clients, visits, sales analyzed, and profile attributes added.
Economic experts have now officially declared that we’re in a recession, and 2008 as a whole has been tough year for retail. Despite that, the revenue that MyBuys drove for our clients is up over 500%. Looking forward, we’re excited because we have an innovative roadmap for 2009 and even 2010. The pundits are saying that retail and e-commerce is struggling, but we know that our clients will experience online growth as more retail sales are driven through ubiquitous wireless broadband over the coming years. Our team members have worked in e-commerce for hundreds of years in aggregate, so we’ve lived through this before and we’ll continue to apply what we’ve learned on your behalf for a successful 2009 and beyond.
Although budgets for shows will be smaller for many of us next year, we’ll be kicking off our circuit at the Internet Retailer Web Design Show on January 19–22 at the newly remodeled Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami Beach. Three of our customers will be speaking at the event: Greg Selkoe, CEO of Karmaloop; Howard Wyner, CEO of Scentiments.com; and Neil Kugelman, founder and CEO of Goldspeed.com. We’re excited about participating in this high-value show and would love to meet all of you, so please stop by and visit us at booth #38.
Rest assured you can count on MyBuys throughout this busy and important time of year. If I can be of personal assistance to you, please feel free to reach out to me.
Happy Holidays and best wishes for e-tailing success in 2009!
Warm Regards,
Bob Cell
