MyBuys Joins On-Demand Commerce Consortium, Commissions White Paper

On-Demand Commerce Consortium

MyBuys announced that it has become one of the initial members of the On-Demand Commerce Consortium, an association of Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) dedicated to the advancement of on-demand, Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) solutions for retail organizations. The group invests in market education, practical research and standards advancement that encourage the adoption of the on-demand delivery model. The Consortium was first introduced in September at the 2008 Shop.org Annual Summit in Las Vegas.

The Consortium has confirmed that on-demand solutions have come of age and are being adopted widely throughout retail for mission-critical applications. In addition, on-demand solutions deliver significant advantages over on-premise enterprise applications and “home-grown” solutions, namely reduced infrastructure burden, realignment of IT resources to a retailer’s unique competitive advantage, and simplified access to innovation through automatic software upgrades.

To provide retailers with expert information on the subject of on-demand solutions, the Consortium has sponsored a vendor-agnostic white paper by Jeff Kaplan of ThinkStrategies, the foremost authority on on-demand solutions. Entitled Leveraging On-Demand Retail Solutions to Achieve a Competitive Advantage, the paper describes how SaaS solutions work and how they are being adopted to satisfy retailers’ mission-critical business requirements.
