Quality Assurance Engineer (seniority based on experience)

Description
This is a technical test role who will be a key contributor to the overall product quality of the MyBuys hosted service. Qualified candidates must have extensive experience testing scalable web based Java applications on Unix, rock solid technical skills, and a deep understanding of testing methodologies.
Key areas of responsibility include:
- Own the quality of software releases
- Develop tests for both front end and back end testing of the MyBuys service
- Create and maintain comprehensive test plans and test specifications
- Execute manual and automated tests, record defects, and verify fixes
- Collaborate with the development team on test tool development, performance optimization, debugging and problem isolation
- Configure the necessary test environment and QA Lab including installation and management of web server, application server, database, and operating system
The ideal candidate will be very detail oriented, and has a passion for testing, a high degree of self motivation, an unwavering commitment to excellence and an excellent work ethic and is fun to work with.
Prerequisites
- BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline
- Startup experience
Requirements
- 6+ years testing complex web or enterprise Java applications on Unix/Linux all the way from the UI down to the database and the back office systems including analytics and data marts
- Solid understanding of Oracle & PL/SQL and demonstrated experience doing data quality testing
- Working experience with web technologies (HTML, JavaScript, XML, and Http)
- Proficiency in Unix environments and shell scripting
- Experience testing multi-tenant on demand (ASP, SaaS) applications highly desired
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to deliver projects on time with minimal supervision
- Proficiency with Ant, Subversion, Maven, Clover, Emma & JIRA
- Experience building automation tests with open source Java Automation tools (Grinder, JUnit, JMeter) a plus.
